San Diego Animal Services reports that a woman was flagged down when another driver saw a cat hanging out of her front bumper!  The cat had probably gotten stuck when trying to get out of the warm engine compartment.  A crowbar was used to extricate the cat and it was brought to a local veterinarian for examination.  Fortunately the cat is just fine and has been reunited with its caregiver thanks to its microchip ID.

This story reiterates just how important it is to slap your car's hood a couple of times before starting it on a cold day.  Cats and other small animals have been known to crawl up next to engines to get warm during cold weather.
